My weight has been a struggle for decades but now at 64, it’s imperative that I get up and start moving more. It’s time to start a routine I can stick to because let’s face it getting started is the hardest part. It’s hard because lifting weights and moving a body that’s been sedentary. My goals are lofty but achievable and this time, I’m hoping that I don’t have to start over…again.
It seems every time I start; I get sick. Literally, the common cold love to attack me when I start exercising. We, the hubby and I, have already changed the foods we eat and the portions we consume. That’s been a huge help but we need to move. And like I said, I have goals and I believe I can achieve them.
Strength and mobility - I have noticed a steep decline in areas like being able to get up off the floor or say, balancing on one leg for more than 5 seconds before toppling over. Now that I’m in my 60s, I need to get the strength back and work on my core. It will help me to NOT fall down from simple tasks like getting into a bath.
I need to lose 107 lbs. Yup, it pains me to write this but I’m currently 232lbs and I’m only 5 ft. tall. I’m an apple shape, so the belly, bosom and bottom are sadly in need of downsizing. While I set the goal of 125 lbs. It’s not a hard number. I want to get to a healthy weight where I look better and most of all can move better.
We purchased a recumbent bike to get started. It’s sitting across the room from me as I type this and I swear I can gear it calling to me. It’s going to be a big help in losing inches off my legs and derriere. Before you say it, I know that the most important thing to losing this weight is decreasing my calorie intake. It’s not just about exercise. Food matters.
I’m doing this with a buddy, my husband so that we can hold each other accountable.
