Got Back Into PvP | Guild Wars 2

I haven't PvP'd in probably 10 years but I need to do WvW (World vs World) in order to obtain a Gift of Battle for the Legendary bow, Kudzu. It will be my first legendary. The project is time consuming and but worth it. The best part is that I can take as long as I want. There's never a rush about anything in Guild Wars 2. You're never left behind and can take everything at your own pace. That works for me because gaming, while it's a beloved hobby for both Nyk and I, isn't a priority in our lives.

They've revamped WvW several times over the years so I'm getting used to it all. In the end, it's a bunch of players running into battle, capturing objectives and trying to take keeps and castles. It's AMAZING. PvP is one of the things we used to do as a family but we're all older now and we have varying game genres we love.

Currently we're leading (ever so slightly) in the latest skirmish. We're Hall of Judgement. Oddly enough, I wasn't nervous about jumping back into the fray even without a PvP set-up. I literally rolled in with my PvE build and did alright. I died a couple times but that's inevitable. Getting back to the main group can be dangerous which is how I thought I'd die, but that only accounted for one death. I saw a lone enemy attempting to take one of our supply depots and rushed in to mix it up.

It ended with me eating dirt but I gave them a good fight. We both came close to dying several times and I credit my longevity in that encounter (about 6 minutes) to my build. My main character is an Engineer and I run two different builds in open world: Scrapper and Mechanist.  I use the Mech when doing World Boss runs. Scrapper is my day to day build and I love the tenacity and survivability of the build. Heal, stun, slow, smash... it's awesome.

We're currently on the team Hall of Judgement and have a slight lead in the current skirmish. Will we win in the end? Unsure. PvP is a fickle activity. One day your guild banner is flying high over a keep and the next day a hoard of enemy players feels lucky and takes it all away. It's all in good fun though.

My love of photography in real life extends to my gaming life. We have screen shots documenting our adventures and we also record a lot of our shenanigans in game. It's one of the main reasons we have YouTube accounts. Upload the videos and get to relive the hilarious or thrilling moments in our pixelated worlds.

Below is my Sylvari Scrapper sporting her Guild Wars 3 t-shirt and a massive rifle. I believe the "meta" build for Scrapper uses a hammer but I play what I love, not meta. So my scrapper runs rifle and flame thrower. It does the job nicely.

The last screen is hubby's character on the left. It's an Asuran Evoker. I keep telling him that from the side, he looks like Elvis Presley. He doesn't see it.

Off to do a bit of adventuring today and chase some achievements.

Peace,
B
